TECH NOTE

Updating with newer versions of the applications, utilities and/or libraries.

The following applies to all systems shipped after September 27th 2002.

Depending upon what you have downloaded from this Web site you must take precautions not to accidently destroy or replace your own libraries. Please observe the follow points:

• Use the installer which is provided. It checks to make sure that all appropriate drivers are correctly installed.
• If you download the complete archive for the first time , then you do not need to concern your self with accidentally overwriting and destroying existing file since you have none.
• If you have existing documentation, libraries or applications, we recommend that you first place the new downloaded data in a separate directory. Then copy what you need from that directory to the target directory. Remember, that if you have added your footprints to our libraries, when you copy our libraries back to your working directories, the modified libraries will be replaced with what we distribute, thus cause the loss of your creations. It is a better idea to always put your creations in your own library files in a different library directory.
• In the WinOS when you do a finder copy of a folder to a window containing a similarly named folder, the existing folder and its contents are first deleted and then replaced with the contents of the new folder. Therefore make sure that there is nothing of value in such a folder when you are updating in this manner.

Version Updates

Updates which incorporate bug fixes are available from this website. They can be downloaded and will work directly on your machine. However, it is possible that the specific fix you are seeking may not exist in the series for which you are currenly licensed. Under these circumstances you will need to first upgrade your license status before you will be able to use the newer version.

Version Upgrades

Upgrades will usually require that your license status be upgraded. In most cases if you have a support contract with VAMP inc. the upgrade fees are usually part of the support. If you are not on support, then you will have to pay any applicable upgrade fees prior to getting your license status upgraded at the GLSS server.

To save time, be sure that your status matches the version you plan to run.
